If you want to install one of those old Sage stocks on your Remington 870 shotgun, you will need a replacement receiver stud.  You can't grind down the factory receiver stud because it doesn't have enough internal threads.  But an appropriate receiver stud would be easy enough to make by anyone who has a lathe.

I have not actually made this part to test it.
